Bol.com aimed to bring Het Grote Speelgoedboek to life, boosting children's excitement about toys during Sinterklaas while also making it easier and insightful for parents to navigate gift shopping during the holiday season.

The biggest interactive story of Dutch Santa.

In 2020, bol.com launched The Big Toy App: a fun and interactive way for children to explore toys by scanning items in Het Grote Speelgoed Boek and learning more about their favorite products. It’s not just fun for kids but also gave parents a little insight. 

The goal for 2021 was to double app downloads and, most importantly, increase scanning activity. But how do you get kids excited about scanning toys in an intuitive way? The solution: make scanning a part of their imagination -as storytelling creates a more engaging and unforgettable experience. 

That's how the most interactive Dutch Stanta story in the Netherlands was created: Het Verdwenen Speelgoed Mysterie

In 2022, I was involved in the creation of a new storyline: Het Mysterie van de Verdwenen Pakjesboot. The app became an even more immersive adventure, enriched with innovations like Augmented Reality (AR), allowing children to bring toys from the physical book to life in their own homes.
The integration of Bol.com's digital shopping cart also made it easier for parents to purchase the toys. 

 

Children embarked on a quest to find the missing toys, exploring fantastical worlds like a desert, an ice plain, and a jungle. Through interactive ánd educational games, they could collect the toys and solve the mystery.Exclusive video messages from Dutch Santa provided hints and encouragement along the way. Those who completed all the challenges were rewarded with an official Santa Helper Diploma.
